A highlight of my recent seasons at the Vienna State Opera was the role of the Kavalier in “Cardillac”. The Capriccio label will release a live recording of Paul Hindemith’s Cardillac on February 6, 2026.

The legendary opera Fidelio returns in a new staging by Nikolaus Habjan. Under the musical direction of Franz Welser-Möst, this masterpiece — first premiered in 1805 — will be presented in a new scenic production at the Vienna State Opera for the first time since 1970.

It was a great pleasure for me to sing Narraboth alongside Asmik Grigorian in the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius. Under the musical direction of Gintaras Rinkevičius and in the staging by Dalia Ibelhauptaitė, an intense and unforgettable evening came to life.
The TV recording is now available here – a wonderful opportunity to revisit this very special project!

After almost a decade, the Vienna State Opera returns to Japan! In October 2025, Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro” will be performed at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan under the direction of Barrie Kosky and with Bertrand de Billy conducting. I will take on the role of Don Basilio and am looking forward to making my Japan debut with this work.

My participation as the Shepherd (“Ein Hirt”) in Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde” at the Bayreuth Festival 2024 will be released on Blu-ray by Deutsche Grammophon on July 4, 2025!

I am grateful to be part of the new production of “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” as well as the revivals of “Tristan und Isolde” and “Parsifal”. Last year I had the great privilege of visiting the hotel room at the Grand Hotel et Des Palmes in Palermo during a guest performance, where Richard Wagner once resided. It was at that grand piano that he completed the composition of “Parsifal” on January 13, 1882.

Lydia Steier is directing the opera, marking her debut at the Vienna State Opera. At the conductor’s podium is Philippe Jordan, who is leading “Tannhäuser” at the Haus am Ring for the first time. Clay Hilley is taking on the title role for the first time. The cast also includes Malin Byström as Elisabeth, Ekaterina Gubanova as Venus, Martin Gantner as Wolfram von Eschenbach, Günther Groissböck as the Landgraf, Daniel Jenz as Walther von der Vogelweide, Simon Neal as Biterolf, Lukas Schmidt as Heinrich der Schreiber, Marcus Pelz as Reinmar von Zweter, and Ilia Staple as the Young Shepherd.
